Why I am fond of art?

Art is the spontaneous flow of imagination that takes the shape of any ideas. The principle of art exists beyond the laws and defy the rules. It nurtures creativity and broaden the vision. The nature of art is so supple which appears in particular shape and form.

Art is all about bestowing freedom to our mind and that is what I like the most. To imagine, we need not have to adhere to anyone’s permits and abide by any restrictions. The power of thought when travels along the lines of freedom, it brings wonder to the vision.

The social, economic, political, and religious right for women

I strongly accord that Bhutanese women are leveraging rights at every levels of economic, political, and religious platforms. Bhutan is blessed with rich culture and tradition which are vibrantly interwoven with Buddhist practices and ethos. Since the budding days of Buddhism, women enjoyed equal opportunity in practicing Buddhism. Thereafter, with the advent of Buddhism in the country which was further strengthened by the arrival of Guru Rinpoche has paved the single path for both men and women. The equality of gender was so evident since the time of Lord Buddha. There was a proper institution of Gelongpha and Gelongma, whereas it still continues as we could see so many monasteries dedicated for nuns, many GeyshemasKhandosDeyloms, and also few women Rinpoches. It is further reiterated by one good example that is the stronghold of the Dudjom Throema Tshogpa mostly headed by women.

Social rights are equally bestowed upon women as everyone are equal before the law of the land. Unlike elsewhere in the past, Bhutanese society has found uniform culture wherein the family is led by either male or female. Our culture is such that parents bequeath equal share of their inheritance for male and female child alike. Women has equal say in the society and even government has instituted special agency (NCWC) to address the issues pertaining Child and women in particular. Women’s right are emphasized so much so that RENEW and BENEW are also established to empower women in the country.

As democracy is strongly taking root in the country, so is women’s participation in its process. Irrespective of gender, voting franchise can be availed by all whoever have attained the age of 18. And anyone, both men and women who have an undergraduate qualification can join the political party and are free to contest from the respective constituencies. Everyone can take part in the decision making process. The statistics of women serving in various executives, MPs, NCs and even as a Lyonpo serves clear testimonial for the political rights being enjoyed equally by women in the country.

Men and Women equally contribute towards the growth of our economy. As we walk down the Thimphu city, one could come across more women shopkeepers than male. Women outnumbers as an entrepreneurs in the country. Women are empowered through various training programs to initiate and start new business whereas some just capitalize upon their skills like weaving and embroidery and generate good income to live a descent life. Having right doesn’t mean having an authority to speak from above or scold someone. If one is given an opportunity to follow one’s own dream and can do anything as per the law to achieve, it can be the evidence of having right.

ཁྱད་འཕགས་ཅན་གྱི་ American President from 1789 to 1945

In the time of Kingdoms and Democracies, Landlords and serfdoms, shippers and laborers, the President of America enjoy the merit of being the foremost influential figure in the world. On 12 February 1809, the child was born to a humble family who will then grow up on the western frontier in Kentucky as one of the most abled men. He too had his own share of difficulties, and in the face of series of challenges that will soon unfold in his life, he braved them all with the time-tested fortitude. All such trials and tribulations have prepared him to become the unparalleled leader-easy in a manner yet solid as steel in confidence.  He was prepared to address each difficulty with care and never withdrew when he saw what is true. Becoming stronger by each day, he was not unnerved to brace for war yet appealed to God for harmony. He even used his force, so the evil will stop. Such a leader was he ‑worthy of trust. Once, there stood a man truly called Abraham Lincoln who will do what must and he became the 16th President of America in the year 1861.

Lincoln led the United States through its civil war‑its bloodiest war. His voice made an honest effort to uncover the truth of the division of labor, abuse in the society, the wrath of ruling elites, and the luxury of landlords (Barr, 2014). To the poor people and elites the same, he sufficiently expressed the need to change the social fabric to upright the values through the representation of the common man’s conviction.

At the turn of civil war, when political turmoil prevailed thus much fear shrouded every American’s life, there was a constant turn of crisis and regular beats of chaos throughout the country.  When history pages were ridden with suspense and what waits is unknown, he appeared as an undisputed leader to pave the way for the citizens to walk with strong strides in elegance.

In the dissonance of poverty and the declining political stability, the surging of unemployment, and the voracity of the elite class has carried the economy to the stagnant. The pangs of individuals on the dwindling economic situation have resounded the agonies to the deepest of the earth. It has made the economy inconsistent and inadequate. At the point when the situation is dark and keen the visions, one star shined forward in the space above who has unpicked the knot of bondage. He empowered those slaves to leave behind the whips and chains and spread in front of them the freedom’s plains.

Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. At the time of signing, he stated that never in his life felt more certain that he was doing the right thing in life than signing this paper.  He considered the Emancipation Proclamation to be his administration's crowning achievement. Following this, in 1865, the Union employed approximately 190,000 black soldiers, who distinguished themselves.

He has broken the tyrant's chain and shattered the entire domain of oppression. From the exploitation, he generally attempted to free the slaves, and that is all his point is to grab and relieve from servitude's cruelty to give freedom for all. He fought hard till each chain is broken to strike for freedom thus did he let freedom's bell ring.

Lincoln was a voracious reader and prolific writer. Thus, he had various eyes to search for noticeable and imperceptible things that are coated in pearls of wisdom. He listened to the genuine pleas and unheard the worthless issues. Through his two hands penned down numerous solutions to address the challenges faced by the citizens under him. With a solitary mind, he contemplated measures to solve the problems overwhelming his reign. “Fondly do we hope -fervently do we pray. This mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away,” is one of his most memorable writings.

As a leader, he too had an eye to fix the commercial issues. To which he expressed the practice of lending money at exorbitant interest rates and this heinous and corrosive system must be abolished. Then greenbacks paper currency was issued during the Civil War and earlier to that only gold and silver were used as currency.

On the subject of education, he considered it as the most important subject in which everyone must be involved. He expressed his vision to let every man receive at least a moderate education and thus be able to read the histories of his own and other countries. This will enable educated lots to properly appreciate the value of free institutions. Through the plans and policies that he laid in the system clearly reveals the vitality of education, not to mention the benefits and satisfaction to be gained from everyone being able to read the Scriptures but it will also instill the values of other religious and moral works.

Without a doubt, he is a legendary American President. Almost everyone considers him to be a powerful global peace symbol. His legacy is a powerful symbol of a true leader. Above all, the abolition of slavery was his most significant contribution to humanity. Abraham Lincoln's name belongs in the annals of history as a great man.

Dechen

Dechen Dechen....!

When I look at you,

I see pieces of my childhood

All those beautiful colors shimmer

Your images appear and go out of focus

I hear you hollering at me from the end of the tunnel

Our endless talks soar and fade away

Your smile glow and then disappear

The smell of your pages is dull and fleeting

Are these hallucinations?

No! Never!

I’m perfectly lucid and mind intact

I believe it all started since the very day I met you

You helped me escape our classroom and linger in
the fantasy

The world of fantasy was extremely big and powerful

Bigger than our primary school

More powerful than our teacher

Through you, I trespassed the very gate of the imagination

And carefully crafted countless memories

I never realized it was more than a dream

It has really empowered my future

Now I see it more vivid, more full

Sorry, it’s wasn’t my plan to abscond you

I never wanted to leave you

I thought I could play with you forever

But I had to grow up

And get pass series of gateways

to honor and remember you from this stand-the other end

Thank you Dechen

Life is but a dream

Wish I never wake up from this dream

So that I will find my way back to you

Phajey ♾ Wife

A man with a flat snout, floppy ear, and a bulging stomach, packaged in a disheveled attire is at all times gluttonous. He is propelled by grumbles about everything that comes his way. But when love pulls its strings, he too has an emotion that easily submits.

In the face of his destination, the power of his loving heart got easily dimmed. Tears streamed down his face as the wind of departure blew against their fate. As ordained by the Chenrezig, when the door for the pursuance of dharma opened for him, nothing could stand on his approach to embark on the journey to the west. The last embrace from his better half was such a consolation for his strength that forged him to embrace the new journey with the monk Sunzang.

At long last, he was on the journey to the west leaving behind his beautiful spouse.

This epic sad scene has even rattled my heart to its core.

Guru, care for me!

The embodiment of all the Buddhas of the past, present, and future

To the one who is endowed with the trinity of grace

From the bottom of my heart, I supplicate, dear benefactor

To that poor man, favor, and shower him peace

In Vajrayana, teachers are considered as the embodiment of all the Buddha-the mind treasure-trove and heart-full of wisdom, for them we must be grateful and supplicate unflinchingly. At this degenerating age, our teachers are the ones who actually don’t let their minds get tainted by the changing forces like gossips from the mass, innate pride, afflictions that dim the conscience, and the worthless thoughts of projection and withdrawal, so on and so forth. They entirely focus on tending every sentient beings and consistently pursue upholding the unalloyed and refined solemn vow (Samaya) between them and their students.

From young age till now, with the force of my past karma, I had the magnificent opportunity to meet with such countless teachers. With this, the sense of affection and kindness brewed in me like a sun appearing from the thick cloud emitting countless rays across the sky and clearing the entire haziness. It has to the great extent, infused in me the effect of peace which remains beyond words to describe. It has also blossomed the flower of happiness at my heart and gave me goosebumps incited by the growing within the profound regard.

All the more along these lines, teachers…more than one’s father, he adorns the students with confidence and power, more than one’s mother, he strengthens student’s life force with love and care, and he is a playmate for youngsters, friend for adolescents and focus of assistance for senior individuals. To put it plainly, he is the basic elements of sustenance, the way of life, lamp for ignorance, source of inspiration, wisdom for the intellect, and mental attendant in the daylight, and a mentor for Dream at night.

Against this foundation, for all the teachers dwelling in the ten directions, for the cause of Buddha dharma and every sentient being, I implore…

May you live long and have a prosperous life.

HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY!

Poor Dad, Rich Heart

It was a late raining evening towards the edge of suburbs, an old tipsy man in a messy outfit scaled the steps leading to the small restaurant. He gave off an impression of being a real client who never missed a day to wine and dine at the spot. The solitary client was gradually trailed by the strings of others who all rushed in from the different places. His initial visit reverberated with a mood loaded with greetings, grins, and welcome. As the days multiplied so did the client. That resurrected the once-abandoned place which set aside no effort to grasp onto the flood of the most recent trends with the rising bend of the profit from this venture into a business.

The proprietor's business takes shots up at an astounding pace however his wisdom eye got dazed by ravenousness. Thereupon the elderly man continuously got stonewashed his significance and consideration from the proprietor. Furthermore, the old man was completely confronted with disdain which came shocking to himself within a brief length of duration. He was being condemned and slandered with the evil treatment subsequent to branding him as a spoiler in the scene and filth against the client's craving. Continuously, he was being sought after with apparent inconsiderateness.

Against all the odds, the old man  maintained his calmness to endure all the criticism. Never did he move in a split second from the scene after such ill attacks yet followed his normal pace to leave the place and vanished through the hedges.

Following a couple of days after the fact the café proprietor got a call from an unknown number. On the opposite end was a specialist from the clinic who turned out to be the proprietor’s own brother and the old man happened to be their father.  The doctor discovered the old man’s details when the he was admitted to the hospital through the trace of biological information at the time of medication.

The proprietor, whose name and his business being talked everywhere was put to the absolute stun, wasted no time, no sooner did he hear that news to meet his since a long time ago deserted father. Usually, the parent-children get-together should be an exciting and happy moment but theirs was besieged by sadness. In the last hours, the proprietor of the famous café uncovered the filthy man’s intent for being an everyday customer. It was to help him after learning about his poor business in the town. The huge customer base is the legacy laid by an old man reaching each day a new client to the café which shot up to its prominence in the region.

Beneath the poor coat, the old man carried rich heart and it brewed lament in the eyes of son.

Worth Nu. 50

Our life in this world-to what shall I compare? Life is a mess but a masterpiece; never forget how rare each one of us is. I always long for silence, the kind one can’t find but elope in a cozy bed somewhere between the walls without any distractions, where you set your thoughts alive unremittingly against the backdrop of eerie darkness. As long-awaited wishful music kept ringing my symphonic ear, I ascribed to it ever just once in a while. After much incubated period of the pandemic, finally hatched an idea to pay a visit to Paro.

Having stumbled over the stretch of time, a journey had been peaceful paving my way through the darkness only to get there at an odd hour and I can’t apologize enough for this to my host. How blessed! Drenched in excitement with patchy drizzle overhead, as many times I felt this moment and walked slowly into the mystery after exiting the taxi along the narrow winding road.

The bleak atmosphere has begun to clear and ushered us towards the most uninhibited talks on varying topics. Mark my words! I am so open only to those who share common traits and similar interests of mine. Along the long stretch of talks followed by waves of laughter until gurgled to halt in one’s throat… we had nothing more than a good conversation. Personally, it was such a quality moment sitting around the heater as we all were trapped in our own ideas. What’s better in life than connecting through a smile?

As the seconds passed, it never stops but it will last. Towards the end of our conversation, putting lights out and it was time for bed. Over the bed across the floor, slithered under the blanket onto a smooth bed-sheet, I flipped sideways to adjust my comfort, and happily signed off my day.

Dogs were already up when I am awake the next morning. As I am always so was on the same day- with each breath I was thankful and with each walk I was grateful. My day began with a long sigh and had some more chit-chats. Then my host prepared a breakfast that no one can afford to deny; sumptuous and tasty- I ate it to my heart’s content. their kindness and generosity were very heartening as they showered the common courtesy to the uncommon guy. Always grateful for the hospitality.

Heading towards the Paro town around mid-day was fun. No sooner did I reach the parking, I was so humbled and honored to see so many taxis queued up for my arrival. With a brief bow as a sign of courtesy, I slowly walked past them. But as the drivers hovered their eyes on me like fans waiting for their celebrity’s autography and the paparazzi struggling to get best shots, I couldn’t flaunt enough to let the air of their reception get inside me and pride over it. Therefore, I walked around the parking with an exaggerated swagger. With the final step hitting the finish line of the area, to my utter dismay not even a single taxi driver shouted “Thimphu! Thimphu! Thimphu!” which I have dearly anticipated.

However, I had little choice to swallow my pride at that moment. By then I had ruffled the feathers of my pride and made a satisfying dent in my ego. I lampooned myself for such idiotic deeds and the very plight ended as I made a silent pray…He who is lucky shall come to me, and He shall safely transport me to Thimphu. Help me, I beseech thee, O Lord.

After few seconds, one of the taxi drivers approached me and we conversed for a while, He then let me in his car. I have been waiting in that particular taxi for so long when the driver wanted some more passengers to join the trip. As the day wore on, I couldn't resist my temptation to walk out and look for some other taxi heading to Thimphu. At that very moment, a likely some other drivers past me shouting...Thimphu lu Chi..Tsab Tasb! Immediately hearing his voice, I thought I need to bite the bullet and that was the last straw, my patience has run out. Decidedly I did hop out of the taxi in which I have been waiting for so long to join the other trip. Then suddenly, few drivers came up to me and said, “You can inform the driver and come with us” but they are followed by some other drivers to the scene in order to thwart me from joining the other trip.

Thereby, sensing a possible broil over this silly incident, I had to tactfully play a role to pacify the situation and extinguish their anger. Thence, I discovered even amongst those seemingly small and happy group of taxi drivers, they have tied their allegiance towards two unalike teams, thus creating a big gulf between each other.

Sometimes, it’s hard to let reconcilement grow, where the wounds of hatred priced so deep. At the peak of the emotions, we often unleash a storm of unbraided words. Anyhow, a bit worried man amongst all, I mediated between the two factions and remained seated on the earlier seat in the taxi. Now unlike before, I saw fear in the eye of my driver of losing me and realized how I am playing the role of Golden goose to them…lol. Unanimously driver and I decided to tour the town several rounds but still couldn’t fetch a single passenger. Again he drove me back to the parking to let me wait until further notice from him.

Finally, a driver from the opponent team approached the driver whom I am with, with a proposal to flip a coin. I was surprised, on my name what makes them do such crazy things but I remained silent throughout the entire process to let them complete their discussion. The driver next to me has also acceded to his proposal to flip the coin and whoever loses the match that very person will handover his passenger to the other driver who wins and the winner will proceed to Thimphu. Unluckily, they couldn’t manage to get a coin to execute the plan. At that juncture, the opponent driver took out Nu. 50 from his wallet to my driver and said he will take me to join his trip. In the end, with no alternative left available…reluctantly and painfully he signaled his approval of letting me go. I also felt bad for my driver but nothing was going to be more remorse if I kept latching on to this favor as likely was the scenario where I would have to wait till some more time.

In such an intense atmosphere, to comfort and upswing his mood, I patted my driver and successfully bid farewell. Getting into the other driver’s car, there was two more passenger brewing enough frustration for having to wait so long. As the driver put on the radio and started the engine, all of us could clearly see broad smiles all over our faces. Embarrassingly and to my two friends' surprise that driver triumphantly declared, I purchased him (me) at Nu. 50, by then all four of us laughed out loud as the car set on motion towards Thimphu.

Without even leaving a small spot for a second, our shared stories spurred on the imagination and it blew up all in the air. “Am I that Cheap! if so, he got me at a good price!” was all that I recall now of my journey.

Thou love fair, O my Lord!

Happy Losar

Trailing down the vista of months, still, I see the things fading gradually only to know I’m farther off from the past. Days are bright and nights are flawed, Heart is right yet brain isn’t. Rich are strong and poor are weak, everyone is talkative and I can’t speak unless spoken to. No place for truth but only wicked triumphed. It is important to realize everything has its end: completing the circle, closing the chapter, ending the story, and sealing those minutes in the memory trove. Fare thee well Iron Rat, I shall see you when our paths cross again.

I looked around and so confused. Where am I? What’s befalling me? Oh, I can relate to those days… waking up in a sweltering sweat from the dreams I fall asleep right before the sunrise. Sinking into the deep end of the year, I see everyone behind the words inside our stories. The time we are into will keep striking round the clock, diving from the past into the bottomless future. Tiding across the change born to rule the man. Time is tasted, spaces sound and I am convinced that I have existed all over these past years.

I have a dream never so alive that I savored, heard its secrets, and tasted so sweet. Let it unfurl at its pace and take its course. I’m pleased to see you, Iron Ox- you’re welcome.

Happy Losar

Was simply putting you alive

Shielding from...trauma

Sustaining towards...the best

Never to let you break off

Into the pieces

But

It’s a stirring note of apology

Not being able to grasp

……………The goal!

It’s a life

More of a dream

Chasing after an illusion

Just a nugatory!
